Overview

MealPal is a lunch subscription service that offers meals from nearby restaurants for less than $6. Customers use the mobile iOS and Android apps to reserve their meals.

My Role

I was brought on after 3 months of design had already taken place and started working through gaps. We focused on how customers reserve and share their lunch experiences with their networks. We ended up redesigning the app holistically with new information architecture, thoughtful design system, and faster loading times.

Goals: Reduce the time it takes for customers to reserve, increase MealPal referrals, and develop a cohesive design system.

Responsibilities: UX & UI Design, Branding

Features

Emails

As emails are the start of the funnel, we spent time redesigning every touchpoint to increase engagement and create a seamless experience.

Reserve

Reserving a meal had friction points. The map is central to the primary user journey, so we reduced the noise on the page to focus the user on being able to reserve meals easily.

Refer a Friend

With playful, encouraging messaging and prominent placement in high-traffic, post-primary-action areas, we were able to increase referral sends 77% as of one-month post-launch.

Beta Release & Iteration

We released a beta of the new app to a small group of customers for 3 weeks, solicited feedback, and iterated on features before releasing to all customers worldwide.
